MUSEUM GROUP TOURS AND GUIDED EXPERIENCES
Group tours and guided experiences will provide access to An American City through curator-led tours, behind the scenes director conversations, studio visits, private home collections and exploration through charming neighborhoods by locals.
Groups should plan on at least a full day’s experience to get an introduction of FRONT. Those who wish an immersive exhibition experience should plan for a two or three-day stay in Cleveland.
Tours are designed to provide an in-depth look at FRONT art and artists, while revealing the uniqueness of the triennial in Northeast, Ohio.
1-Day Group Tour
Groups visiting for a day can consider completing one guided exhibition tour at a venue in Cleveland, Akron or Oberlin. Begin the day with a brief introduction of the FRONT triennial followed by a docent or curator-led tour. Take a break for lunch in one of the neighborhood exhibition sites, then continue the evening with free time, a self-guided tour, or exhibition program.
2-Day Group Tour
Your second day at FRONT can include an extended trip to the Akron Art Museum in Akron, Ohio or the Allen Memorial Art Museum, the Richard D. Baron ‘64 Gallery, Oberlin College and the Weltzheimer/Johnson House in Oberlin, Ohio. These venues are approximately 40 minutes outside of Cleveland and should be considered a half day adventure on your itinerary. While traveling to or from these exhibitions, groups can visit private home or corporate collections containing work by local and international artists. Finish the evening with a local dining experience by some of Cleveland’s top chefs.
3-Day Group Tour
Eleven Cultural Exercises will continue in major exhibitions all over Cleveland. A City as Readymade group tour in Downtown Cleveland will expose the city as artwork, exploring installations in the majestic beaux-arts architecture of the Cleveland Public Library or in the marble lobby of the Federal Reserve Bank on Cleveland. Canvas City outdoor mural paintings will grace several walls of the downtown area while the principal exercise Artist Focus will look at artists works inside galleries as well as in public spaces and unconventional locations such as the hold of the historic William G. Mather Steamship. A visit to the historic Westside Market for a culturally rich installation would not be complete without lunch. Groups on a three-day adventure will be deeply exposed to the special history of Cleveland while learning about the exhibition.
